Big River Jazz
Big River Jazz is a three day program showcasing a variety of jazz bands on the weekend of the 12-14 September 2008.
This annual event kicks off on Friday night with jazz in restaurants and bars late into the night.
On Saturday the 13th September, the huge outdoor concert featuring fine food and wine, a beautiful setting on the banks of the mighty Fitzroy River, and hours of music, is a fantastic way to enjoy a variety of jazz genres.
A highlight of the night will be Pugsley Buzzard (pictured right), who has been quoted as "singing like a grizzlybear and is quite entertaining" and we couldn't agree more, click here to hear some of Pugsley's music. Pugsley will lead the band on piano and vocal along with three other members on drums, tuba and sax.
The outdoor concert will also feature a range of local based bands and a full program will be finalised soon.
Another major performer on the 13th September at the Ski Gardens is a Brisbane Based band - Scat (pictured left). These young performers are a 4 piece jazz combo with energy, humour, charisma and their crowd interaction and musical expertise has earned them a reputation as a great feature act in many settings.
Follow up on Sunday by browsing the Heritage Village Markets, accompanied by more local based jazz and finishing up the weekend with a jam session on Sunday afternoon.
